"Fangirl"-Rainbow Rowell
I could have sworn that I was being followed my freshman year of high school after I read Rainbow Rowell’s new book, Fangirl. This new bright and beautiful story of an awkward girl in college will make readers laugh and cry and question their own freshman years.
Cather is a new college freshman and truly doesn’t want to be there. Her twin sister, Wren, chose this school for both of them and in all honestly, Cather doesn’t know why
she agreed to it in the first place. She would much rather stay at home and write fanfiction about Simon Snow, the mage’s heir. Yes, you read that correctly. Fanfiction about a mage’s (magician) heir.
Instead however, she is being drug out of her dorm by her roommate who thinks she’s a freak, and a professor who-ghasp-is making all students work in pairs on their assignments. In the meantime, her sister is ignoring her, her roommate’s boyfriend is trying to kiss her, and her estranged mother is trying to have Thanksgiving dinner with her. Yeah, sitting and writing fanfiction would be so much better than this.
Seriously though, after you read this book you will be looking back over your freshman year memories and trying to remember if that girl behind you in the taco line was Rainbow.

"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky
Dear Friend,
I think you should read Perks of Being a Wallflower. It has nothing to do with wallpaper, nor flowers, though flowers and wallpaper are in this novel.
Charlie is the ultimate outsider, a new freshman at a new high
school with no friends. Then he meets Patrick and Sam and his whole life changes. He goes from being the ultimate outsider to being in a group of only semi-outsiders.
This tale of learning about life, sex, sexuality, and the glory of Tim Curry’s legs in The Rocky Horror Picture Show will have you laughing, crying, and feeling sad about how pitiful your own high school experience was.
Dear Friend,
Really. Read this book.
